The value is not simply sending a text. It is making the conversation part of the business instead of leaving it trapped on one person’s phone.

Where shared texting helps

  • Confirm an appointment or let a customer know an order is ready.
  • Receive a photo or other MMS attachment tied to a customer question.
  • Let an available teammate continue a conversation when someone is away.
  • Keep the public business number consistent across calls and texts.
  • Reduce the need to publish employees’ personal numbers.
Shared does not mean anonymous.A useful workflow still defines who monitors the number, who responds, and how the team avoids duplicate replies.

Designed for service conversations

This is a strong fit for ordinary, expected customer communication. Higher-volume messaging, automated campaigns, or specialized applications need a separate review so registration, consent, workflow, and usage costs are aligned before launch.

What plan is needed?

Shared texting and outbound SMS/MMS are supported with the Plus plan, currently listed at $18 per user per month. The messaging package is $10 per SMS-enabled number per month with a defined usage allowance, so several authorized users can share one enabled number without buying a separate messaging package for every seat. See the pricing and comparison pages for the current figures.

Responsible texting still matters

A business should text people who reasonably expect the message, identify itself clearly, respect opt-out requests, and avoid turning a service conversation into an unsolicited marketing program. Outbound business messaging on U.S. 10-digit numbers requires A2P/10DLC registration and carrier approval before it is enabled.

Good fit

A small office, restaurant, professional practice, or service business with a few people who may need to respond.

Needs discovery

Bulk promotions, automated sequences, high message volume, or integration with a specialized application.
